Ever since, as a young girl, I discovered my mother’s paint box in the attic, I knew I was going to become a painter.
For me, everything stems from the observation of an interesting shape in nature, a sculpture, a modern building or a social issue.
As it happens, abstract art chose me. It gives me a sense of the infinite.
Color is at the heart of my process; it is subject, shape and space. It is the window to my inner self and to the emotions at a given moment. Black is anger, sadness is indigo, happiness is yellow, insight is blue, calmness and restfulness is green and survival is red. This range of colors elicits different gestures for each of my pieces, which are snapshots of my everyday life. My style lies between geometric and intuitive. This dichotomy brings a balance to my work.
As I am always looking to explore new textures and techniques, I am presently experimenting with "pouring", in which liquid acrylic pigments flow together on canvas or cradled panels. This process, requiring that I work quickly and spontaneously, fits my personality perfectly. The effects are incomparable to those created with a brush. This know-how, which was born with the American « Color Field » movement, is as unpredictable as it is exciting. It brings a distinctive character and originality to my style of painting which is fluid and controlled, intuitive and dynamic.
In the end however, all that matters is the creation process.
It gives substance to my nature.
